After playing through a bunch of indie slice of life games, both old and new, I have put together a list of the best five, which really showcase some lovely games that you can spend your winter (or summer!) playing. You’ll often be making the world better as you invest more time into it. They allow you to dip in and out of the world, often working towards tasks and improving your life in these little places. Indie slice of life style games are big, complex, and offer a good amount of playtime. I find that it’s the best time of year for slice of life-style games – games where you have a large world, quests and people to interact with, and all without leaving the warmth of your own couch. This doesn’t mean I do not dream of warmer places, of better lands, and of things I want to do. Beats trying to farm in the cold!Īs the weather gets colder outside, I find myself looking to stay in to avoid Winter’s chill. there's also begin again, which is a busking show that has run for i think three or four seasons now, sing again (a competition show with two seasons), and superband, which for the second season did an outdoor episode that was a lot of the musicians just noodling around.There are so many indie slice of life games out there, but here are five of the best ones that are worth spending your evenings playing. there's programs like you heeyeol's sketchbook, where there's a mix of dance and band performances (here's onewe doing a short acoustic version of universe_), pretty much all of the numerous radio shows have a song feature from whoever the guest is, and last summer there was sea of hope, which was quite popular. this type of less bombastic, more music oriented performance absolutely exists, it's just in other places. i suspect you wouldn't have to look hard to find something similar from groups like btob or nu'est also. there are some similar things more sobremesa-style things too: vixx did a very drunk performance of scentist a couple years ago and i'm pretty certain there's at least one filmed instance of shinee drunk-singing at a restaurant.

hongjoong did a full hour busking set in december (and brought the rest of ateez and maddox with him).
there's also scores of jonghyun performances too. there are also instances of idols doing acoustic/low key performances, like vixx did here which is the first thing that came to my head. obviously there are exceptions, most well known in this case is probably the acoustic segment during the exordium tour. what gets branded internationally as 'kpop' is a particular style of performance and music called 'idol music' in korea it has a semi-codified structure and parameters in the same way that a musical or a large stadium act has a semi-codified structure and parameters, and spectacle is unquestionably a part of that. i'm not entirely sure if this is a totally accurate comparision, but it's kind of like assuming a broadway or a large stadium brand pop star is representative of all types of music performance from the states. i think it's hard for intl fans to understand and access, because a lot of korean entertainment is not billed to international audiences, but there is a huge spectrum of music based content that is very popular in korea. Thirdly, it's not like this type of stuff doesn't exist in the korean entertainment industry. this wasn't always the case, because there are groups that can and have done stuff like this, but they are few and far between now. just like with dance, you have to constantly practice in order to understand the way your instrument (your voice, your body, an actual instrument) works, and the wider variety of things you practice the wider the range and ability of those skills. idols are not required to play instruments or probably know theory, and most idol singers probably spend most of their time practicing the specific songs that they have to.

in a way, i think it's probably very similar to the way i talk about idol dancers being different from professional dancers. the energy of a music-based performance like this comes from the synergy of practicing music together things like jam sessions and random noodling and a lot of improvisation and honing of skills that doesn't necessarily have a specific goal. tangana is doing here, because there's just not enough vocal training or even just musicality training happening. i meant it when i said that idols function more like actors, i do not think there are very many new gen idols who could actually pull off the type of performance that c. Ok secondly, and this is crucial here: this type of performance requires musicians.
